Warwick
THE COUNTY TOWN of Warwick, centrepiece of an area acclaimed as the historic heartland of England, is renowned internationally for its castle which is recognised as probably one of the finest in the country and a major tourist attraction all year round.
Warwick not only affords architectural gems from its historical past, but has kept up to date in its outlook and offers both residents and visitors a modern vibrant life. The older part is full of character, containing several quaint streets and in the centre, on the highest ground, is St Mary's Church with its majestic tower dominating the landscape and almost giving the town clustered around it the appearance of a small cathedral city.
Facilities are broadly based to include a wide and interesting range of shops with, in particular, an abundance of antique shops, good choice of restaurants to cater for a variety of culinary tastes, hospital, public library, schooling, leisure and recreational amenities, together with Warwick Racecourse and Golf Club.
Extended amenities are available in the fine neighbouring centre of Royal Leamington spa and the location is also convenient for the many attractions in and around Stratford-upon-Avon.
A little over 3km (2 miles) to the south of Warwick is the J15 intersection of the M40 Motorway (Birmingham – Oxford – London) and there is a main-line rail service (Chiltern Railways) from both the town and Warwick Parkway to Birmingham Snow Hill and London Marylebone.
