Home Information Packs (HIPs)
Other than a few exceptions, the Home Information Pack (HIP) is mandatory for the entire housing market in England and Wales. This comprises a set of documents that provides the buyer with key information on properties they are interested in purchasing. A HIP has to be provided by the seller or estate agent and currently has to have been commissioned before the commencement of marketing.
A HIP can be prepared by an estate agent, solicitor, specialist HIP provider, of whom there are many from which to chose, or, indeed, the seller.
